CHARLOTTE, NC, Tuesday, August 22, 2023 — Affinity Energy is proud to celebrate the opening of DC BLOX’s subsea cable landing station (CLS) and dark fiber route in Myrtle Beach, SC. The 59,000-square-foot facility within the International Technology and Aerospace Park (ITAP) provides connectivity to local businesses by anchoring the area’s subsea cable systems to other continents.

In addition to the facility’s five pre-positioned subsea bore pipes, configured for up to five international subsea cables, DC BLOX’s dark fiber route, with nearly 500 miles of high-capacity East-to-West fiber, will connect the Myrtle Beach CLS to Lithia Springs, Ga., via a path through Charleston, S.C., Augusta, Ga., and Atlanta.

The fiber’s eight strategically located network aggregation facilities enable regional cloud computing, wireless services, local content distribution, and broadband access to underserved areas throughout South Carolina and Georgia.

Affinity Energy provided materials, control system integration services, and field services to integrate the electrical power management system (EPMS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for the Myrtle Beach data center.

“With the release of DC BLOX’s first cable landing station, Affinity Energy continues to provide DC BLOX with the means to monitor their facilities effectively,” shared Thomas Yingling, control system programmer II at Affinity Energy. “This new station will usher in fiber communication to facilities throughout the Southeast, interconnecting more data-driven industries.”
